research Legg Mason Value (LMVTX). I've been watching this fund for some time. I see this fund as being valued very cheap, with good growth potential ahead for the long-term investor (2+yrs).

After you look into LMVTX, research Fidelity Magellan (FMAGX). Manager Harry Lange is on a hot streak with picks: Google and Nokia.

  1. quicklearner: thanks for you feedback. i was looking at LMVTX's holdings and saw that it includes "E*TRADE Financial". From what i have been reading, they are on the verge of filing for bankruptcy...how will this effect the fund?

Have you considered an index fund? I recommend: VANGUARD INDEX TRUST 500 INDEX (VFINX) and SPDRs (SPY). These aren't aggressive growth funds, but they provide a good starting ground.
