Fees of course will vary. A Certified Financial Planner for example will charge a average fee of $100 per hour, $700 for a comprehensive financial plan, and $300 for a plan that covers a specific area, such as retirement planning.

You should never assign all responsibility for your money to your Financial Planner. To get the most out of the relationship, you should meet quarterly with your adviser to see how your overall financial situation is progressing, how your investments are doing and to discuss any life changing adjustments such as, children, promotions, bonus, college.

The size of your retirement account also changes everything. If you have an account over 750k rates and service expectations change significantly from an account in the less than 100k range.
