I've been asked to research video conferencing solutions for the company I work for. We have two locations, one Los Angeles the other San Diego. Up until now we have been flying back and forth. We want to offer a VC solution to cut costs. The video conferencing solution needs to be comprehensible by users with minimal technical skills.
Thanks in advance!

Have you looked into Cisco's WebEx solution?
Reasons for WebEx:
1. No upfront costs
2. Remote Support
3. Integrated Video, Audio, Data, Desktop sharing Solution
4. No application or hardware to install. It is a hosted on-demand solution.
5. I'd assume the average business person has used WebEx before and is familiar with the sytem
Its even iPhone compatible.
Another similar, cheaper alternative is Adobe's Connect solution, although I don't believe it has as strong of a video conference solution as WebEx does.

It sounds like video conferencing is perfect for your company. Web conferencing (as mentioned by the previous poster) can be very handy for presentations and similar functions, but talking face-to-face leads to much higher producivity for inter-office meetings, IMO.
There are a couple of options available:
Desktop Video Conferencing - If you already have an IP voice system (VoIP), all you need are IP cameras and conferencing software. You can sit at your desk and conduct a person-to-person meeting with one, or several, people that also have the software and a camera. Easy to use and relatively inexpensive.

HD Video Conferencing - HD displays (32-50") are placed in a conference room in both locations. Cameras are then positioned to record the people participating in the meeting, who are sitting accross from the HD displays. When the cameras are powered up, the participants in both locations feel like they're in the same room. If you "fly back and forth" regularly, this would pay for itself very quickly, not to mention the HUGE convenience of not having to travel.

Hope that helps!
