There are many financial advisor positions offered right now, but given the current situation of financial institutions and economy, I think building a book of business might be close to impossible for someone just starting a career.
Right now it seems like job security at a financial institution or bank for entry level employees is highly volatile.
Any recommendations or thoughts on possible alternatives would be greatly appreciated.

get a real nasty boss. Somebody that squeeze any part of you, that makes you work as hell. But somebody that helps you to get to know the business well. Just graduated wants a secure job when they have to learn the real life at work. Try to get a job where at the end of it you can compare with your similars and feel the diference in knowlege, capacity and understanding. Do not freeze your future in order to get the easy, secure and comfortable job. The money comes later when you find out you became a shark in a fish pool
