While I don't want to use an investing system out of the box, I would like to buy a top notch investing system to help me get started and learn from other people's experiences.

Look into Alexander Elder's Impulse System, which is covered in his book Come Into My Trading Room.
Elder's book was fundamental to my trading career. While I do not use his system to the letter, I did use it to start developing my own system. Why not learn from other traders experience? his books are also highly valuable.
The book also talks about timing parameters in parallel to charting and indicators, its a great system and a great starting point.

If you mean a stock trading system, I've been looking for a similar solution. I've been surprised on how difficult it has been to find and evaluate the systems for sale. There should be a stock trading system index site or directory if you ask me.
Although I don't have any insight on having used a system, I have been looking into one for a while now and thinking about pulling the trigger. Take a look at doublingstocks (dot) com.
They have a good informative overview on their system and videos to watch for free on how the automated system works. While I don't think anyone who were to buy this would quickly succeed it should provide the starting point you are looking for.
