I agree that print journalism cannot compete with the speed at which online journalism releases news. However, I think there is something about the practice of having a newspaper delivered on your doorstep every morning that will always be preferred by some people.
I also think that the public will always opt to read certain types of journalism (and I use this term loosely) - political commentary, social commentary, advice columnists, etc. - in print format.
In the future, when your favorite sports team wins the ultimate championship or your best friend opens a popular restaurant, what do you think you will cut out and post on the refrigerator or frame? Will it be something that you have printed off the internet or will it be the feature article from the newspaper? In some form, I think print journalism will always have a place...

I think I'm the only person on this thread who prefers Print Journalism. No online news site will ever come close to the prestige of the Wall Street Journal. And especially not a blog.
What needs to happen is print journalism needs to find new ways to monetize their content. Sure the solution to monetizing print journalism isn't obvious now, but neither was Google 10 years ago. Be open minded.

Print Journalism can not compete with Online Journalism. People's demand for information continues to increase. Print journalism offers a delayed stream of information. Without question, online journalism will be the future of journalism. Online prestigiousness will come in time.

I agree that online journalism is faster and of easier access. But you can´t get online the prestige and the backup that print journalism offers. Besides you can read print journalism when there is a blackout, it´s not infected with virus and you always know who is writing and printing it.
