I purchased Beauty salon in February, would like to do Bookkeeping on paper until I find good software. So please suggest software.

Also Please suggest the Chart of accounts I should create. I do Bridal Make-up, I also travel to clients home for that. I do Manicure, Pedicure, Facial and Waxing, Haircut and Henna Tatoo.

  3. iganatra: Thank you for software recommendation, I can purchase that for year 2008. Since I didnot have it this year I will have to do accounting on paper. Can you give me any suggestion for chart of accounts?

Have you checked out SalonBiz salon software? They have a both free and paid versions for salons and paid versions for spa software - the paid versions have QuickBooks integration (which is great for accounting). They have almost all the other standard features for salons and spas like appointment book, customer history, inventory tracking, sales reporting, etc.

You can download SalonBiz LIGHT the free salon software version here, but I don't know how many accounting specific features it has.

  1. MommyCEO: I would definitely recommend QuickBooks for your accounting software. Get it now and start using it. Don't get trapped into doing your accounts on paper!
  2. invsense: great answer!
