How to maintain the effect of a motivational speaker?
I have found that motivational gurus have a short-term impact on my employees. Is there a way to sustain the guru's effect and keep the feel-good feeling in the workplace?
I wonder if motivational speakers are a "band-aid" approach to a deeper, underlying problem in the workplace? It may be necessary to solicit some feedback from your employees to find out why the morale tends to be at a generally low level. Poor working hours? Not enough recognition for work? Interoffice jealousy? There are numerous reasons why the atmosphere around the office isn't as happy as you'd like it to be. Perhaps giving your employees a way to anonymously suggest changes/improvements can let you know where they aren't satisfied.
I think a motivational speaker should be accompanied by motivational actions. There shouldn´t be just a guru telling them they should be happy, but showing them why they are happy, so they will feel that way. The point is, if you did the best you could to keep them satisfied, then try to communicate that and they will appreciate it. Otherwise, they won´t have a reason to do so. Good luck
