how do you find out it the interest on your home loan is being handled right

I don't have an adjustable rate. Have never been late & for the last few years paid $100. -$200. Extra towards principal , but on my monthly statement the amount for intrest is different. sometimes they take $700 sometimes $200 the amout varies. what they don't take for intrest is put on principal. Doesn't seem right.

Is your payment PITI (Principle, Interest, Taxes, Insurance)? If so, this may be what the variation is. But you could always call your lender and ask.
