Does GMAIL offer the ability to store emails in directories?

Gmail does not. I wouldn't be shocked to see Google role this email directory storage feature out in the future, they'll need to if they want to destroy MSFT's outlook dominance.

For now, Google recommends using Labels for visually sorting content and filtering your emails.
