With the holiday season coming up, I want to actively monitor my online store, which I manage and host. Having any down time during the busiest shopping season would be disastrous to my bottom line.

I would strongly recommend a service from Webmetrics (www.webmetrics.com). I've been with them for a number of years now, and everything else I've tried hasn't come close. You may find some cheaper options out there (e.g. pingdom.com, dotcom-monitor.com) but there's no comparison in terms of features and reliability (you can't risk your monitoring solution not being reliable).
Good luck with your search, it's a great sign that you realize you need this and are looking. Most companies don't get this far.
