A colleague was venting to me about our boss and it turned out that the boss heard the whole conversation. Do I need to do "damage control"?

My colleague was frustrated and said some unflattering things about the boss. I didn't add to the conversation, but I didn't stop it either. What can I do to smooth out the situation? Do I even need to do anything?

What you should do is stop the colleague from venting to you in the workplace in the future. This is especially important now that you know your boss is spying in on coworker conversations.
